Zymeworks is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development and commercialization of next-generation bispecific and multifunctional biotherapeutics, initially focused on the treatment of cancer. Zymeworks is seeking a highly-motivated professional who is looking to grow their career with our company.

Zymeworks is seeking a Manager, Technical Operations to execute on Techncial Operations deliverables in support of Zymeworks’ development programs. This position can be based from our offices in Seattle or Remote (US) and will report to the Associate Director, Technical Operations.

As a condition of employment, Zymeworks requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and provide verification of such.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with TMO department to execute against development and commercialization plans.
  • Proactively identify chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) gaps and risks, and work with the teams and leadership to develop mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate internal timelines and priorities with the various TMO functions.
  • Work closely with technical functions to enable execution of CMC validation activities at multiple external CDMOs.
  • Collaborate closely with CMC leadership and team members, to execute the external manufacturing strategies.
  • Track timelines and activities for development projects in order to achieve key deliverables and progress toward milestones and regulatory filings in alignment with company goals.
  • Help track Technical and Manufacturing Operations budgets.
  • Work with TMO members, Legal, and Finance to facilitate movement of contracts through the review and approval process.
  • Foster strong relationships with team members and various department leads, supporting project-related communications and issue identification and management.
  • Maintain program-related CMC-specific documentation, including program timelines and tracking mechanisms, for both internal and external activities.

Qualifications and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in bioprocessing, a biological science discipline or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ related experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Direct experience working in a biopharmaceutical technical operations discipline with a working knowledge of biologics drug development.
  • Ability to work as part of a high performing team and collaborate effectively with staff.
  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities both within and outside the company.
  • Able to develop solutions to complex problems by employing ingenuity, creativity and innovation.
  • Domestic and international travel (~10%) as needed.
  • Understanding of basic scientific/technical concepts.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skills.
