Histology Lead

Research - Bothell, Washington

Description

Summary

We are seeking an individual to lead our Histology capabilities in Research and meet our expanding needs in tumor microenvironment characterization and understanding targets for antibody-based therapeutics. Reporting to the Senior Director of Cancer Biology, you will be part of an experienced team of discovery scientists dedicated to the mission of curing cancer. The successful candidate will have broad and deep expertise in histology methodologies, including tissue processing and embedding, sectioning, histochemical staining, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skill and experience working directly with scientists across a variety of disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage operations and staff of a research histology laboratory
  • Evaluate new techniques and instrumentation to increase the impact of the Histology team
  • Interact regularly with key scientists to coordinate work priorities for the laboratory to assure efficient function and maintain positive relationships across a variety of functional areas
  • Engage with peers in Translational Sciences to streamline histological aspects of therapeutic programs as they transition towards clinical development
  • Develop and implement a plan to establish a LIMS for managing a tissue repository, tracking workflows, and cataloging experimental results

Qualifications:

  • Experience managing histology capabilities for a research organization
  • Demonstrated expertise in multiple histopathology techniques and instruments
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional research environment
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask and set priorities for self and others
  • Leadership, vision, mentorship of junior staff
